I’ve started cutting out a new quilt in pretty, vintage colours. I’m using a “Layer cake” of Bunny Hill fabric, in pale aqua and chocolate, to which I have added more chocolate, and some vintage pink, in reproduction fabrics. The layer cake squares are 10″, and I have discovered that I can just get 4 of the squares out of a Fat Quarter, as long as it is a metric one. I have had to choose the Fat Quarters out of my stash carefully. Now I am ready to start sewing – I hope this looks as good as I imagine, and I hope my maths in correct!
Do you have a go-to quilt design to use up a layer cake?

I’m sure it will be lovely!
