On Saturday I started piecing a second baby quilt featuring the Koala fabric I designed (and had printed by Spoonflower). I had trouble getting the colours right on these photos – the fabrics are a little brighter and clearer than they appear here – I blame the overcast, humid weather.
I have finished the quilt top of the first, and pin basted it yesterday ready for quilting. I’m very happy with how it turned out.
This second one uses almost the same fabrics as the first, but instead of wide expanses of cream fabric, I am using 1″ strips of latte coloured fabric, and improvisational piecing, inspired by Elizabeth Hartman’s Mod Mosaic Tutorial. It is so much fun making it up as you go. There is a lot of piecing for each block, so it might take a while, but I have a baby imposed deadline – late March or early April, so I have to get cracking.
If you are interested in my Koala fabric, you can find it here on Spoonflower, where there is so much fabulous fabric that you can buy by the yard.
Have you bought any Spoonflower fabric? Perhaps you have designed some yourself.
